How to Live Frugally

Question 4: How can I be frugal? How do you live frugally?
Learning how to be frugal doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, probably the hardest thing about having a frugal lifestyle is resisting the peer pressure you’ll feel in the beginning from friends, family, and coworkers. For example, you might get some weird looks from friends at work if you decide to start bringing your lunch and resist going out to restaurants. Some things you can do are  asking friends to join you, as you brown bag it, or if they won’t, try to encourage them to get take out and then eat together back at the office or in a park. Barring that, you may have to let your friends go aka fire them. Remind yourself amidst this peer-pressure, that your choice to learn how to live frugally is for you and your family’s benefit in the long run and that many people feel uncomfortable thinking on their own and may feel threatened by your decision to do so.
Implementing frugality into your life will take some adjustment as you will have to learn new skills. If you’re used to eating out most of the time, you might have to learn how to cook. A great series to watch BTW is Jacques Pepin’s Fast Food My Way. You can see it for free on the internet and unlike a lot of celebrity cooks, for the most park Jacques is using inexpensive ingredients. I’ve also written a bit on frugal meals and frugal cooking.
