Traveling on a budget can be hard, but it’s all about prioritization. You simply have to choose where your money goes, and make sure that it is money well spent. Here are three things you might want to consider if you want to travel on a budget.
Flights
Switching planes is not a bad thing. A lot of people avoid this if they’re on a vacation, but others actually turn this into something good. A friend of mine, for instance, visited Malaysia and Singapore as part of his connecting flight plan from Indonesia to the Philippines. If you want to be like him, you have to choose your routes carefully. Go for multiple flights where airlines touch down on places you wanted to visit.
Car Rental
If you want to travel on a budget and do so successfully, you will need to master the art of planning. Most vacations go sour due to added expenses borne out of oversight. When choosing your destination, check out the distance from the airport to the venue itself. If it is about two to five miles, consider looking for cheap car rental services. Conversely, don’t jump into car rentals right away as commuting may be cheaper – this only applies to people who don’t mind carrying their luggage in public transports, of course.
Seasons
Obvious yet often overlooked, studying peak and off peak seasons are the best ways to travel on a budget. Off peak seasons are always cheaper because business establishments would rather drop their accommodation prices rather than not have clients. For instance, in Boracay, Philippines peak seasons are somewhere before and after the Holy Week despite the fact that a lot of people visit the place all year. It’s just the simple fact that the Holy Week heralds the summer for the country, and a lot of locals go to Boracay.
