There are two types of people that go on trips. There are those that just want to get there as soon as possible, and then deal with the headache borne out of wondering where their money went. There are also those that induce their own headaches way before departing, and go on their trip and seamlessly enjoying it. Captain Obvious says you will want to belong in the second category of people. To do that, you’ll want to sink your teeth in a lot of planning. Here are a few tips that can give your trip that “budget travel” feel.
Coupons
Coupons were once just for food, but you can now find coupons that give you discounts for just about anything. In terms of travel, you can get them for discounts in airfares, meals in designated restaurants in your region of interest, and whatnot. Try to look for coupons when browsing online for your potential destinations, as each of these can scratch about ten to thirty dollars off of your pocket money.
Promos
Keep checking flights if there’s a promo. Most airlines offer promos in a pattern, and you can catch that pattern if you check their flight schedules all the time. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a limited promo that they’ll offer for just twenty four hours.
Inconvenience
Most times, if you purposely put yourself in an inconvenient spot from the get go, everything else seems to flow smoothly. A milder example of this in terms of travel is to go during off peak seasons. Sure, you may not witness as much bikini-clad babes on the beach, but it will make your vacation a lot cheaper.
Another way to do the whole inconvenience thing is through flights. Most times, you can get the cheapest flights early mornings or late at night – when nobody else wants to fly. You can also grab good flight deals if you’re willing to wait for a long time for your connecting flight. In light of this, it would be a good idea to plan ahead and make this “stop” one of your destinations anyway.
These are just a few things you can do to make your traveling fit your budget. Of course, you’re going to need to do a lot of planning beforehand, such as where you want to go, how many people are going with you, what you want in your vacation, and whatnot. Budget travel isn’t about going on a trip and spending the least amount of money for it. It is about going on a trip and getting what your money’s worth.
